Embedded software development presents a unique set of challenges that I am particularly qualified to tackle. My childhood experience programming 8-bit microcomputers makes me sensitive to performance issues on constrained platforms; my academic experience has taught me the theoretical underpinnings of today's operating systems; and my professional experience has shown me the importance of clear communication and documentation, engineering at the service of product design rather than for its own sake, and devotion to the process from concept through testing.

I pride myself on a reputation of software engineering that is both rock-solid and innovative; often, I find that seemingly intractable problems can best be solved by taking a few steps back and reassessing assumptions that were perhaps premature. While I have not yet worked in an engineering management role, my communication skills and open thought process have often helped bridge disagreements and get the most out of the team as a whole.

I look forward to future challenges in embedded and/or networked systems, particularly those which are defined and supported sufficiently so as to be deployed and affect the everyday lives of as many people as possible!
